About
Root is the student run journal at the University of Colorado Denver's College of Architecture and Planning. From the ROOT XI team, we ask for your thoughts, your writing, and your art as we prepare to publish the newest edition - Volume Eleven. This year, we ask our collective community to consider and respond to the following prompt:
What is the greatest challenge facing our community as we enhance our spaces for the future?
Has the pandemic shifted your thoughts on the built environment?
Are the many professions in planning & design too siloed?
Do city centers need more green space and bike lanes?
Are the right building materials just too expensive?
What about one specific aspect of climate change?
What does the future of the office look like?
Are suburban areas the problem?
How do you feel about cars?
Or something else?
There are many ways to explore this prompt. And that's our goal.
We want as many perspectives and opinions as possible.
If you are interested in publishing your response, please follow the guidelines below.
Guidelines:
For written submissions, please send one Word doc with the following:

ROOT is primarily a literary journal, but we do seek art as well, whether it be visual or written. If you think your art responds to our theme, we might as well! Send it in!
